I can't say I'm a huge fan of Anne Rice's, especially after she went a bit looney tunes at her fans on Amazon.com (here's Neil Gaiman's rather succinct thoughts on the matter). finished reading the vampire lestat a week ago last monday, and liked it tremendously. i think it's a real shame that interview with the vampire is the first book of the chronicles, as it's undoubtedly the weakest story of the bunch...i think a lot of people (like me) would be put off the whole series if all they read was the first book.
